We built Ledgera because the tools chamas were using, notebooks, spreadsheets, WhatsApp threads, were not built for how chamas actually work.
Our story
Built for a problem we know personally.
A member swears she paid in March. The record shows nothing. The group has been together for four years and now two people are not speaking. The treasurer did nothing wrong. The record just was not good enough to settle it.
We have seen that scene too many times. Loans approved informally and never written down. Statements that take a Sunday afternoon to produce, pulled from a spreadsheet on the outgoing treasurer's personal laptop. Records that live with one person instead of with the group.
Ledgera was built in Nairobi to fix this properly. Contributions recorded with receipts. Loans that follow your group's own rules. Reports available in minutes. And records that belong to the group, not to any one person who might leave.
We are building something more specific than record-keeping software. A chama on Ledgera can walk into a bank with clean contribution records. New members can verify how the group has been run before they commit their money. The records survive when a treasurer leaves.

We do not sell member data. We do not share it with third parties without consent. Your group's financial records are stored securely and accessible only to your authorised administrators and members. Ledgera is compliant with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019.
